- Rinse collards thoroughly before using.
- Remove any thick stems and tear or chop leaves into strips.
- Cook diced bacon or diced ham in a skillet until the fat renders.
- Place bacon/ham, with its drippings, into the bottom of the crock pot.
- In the same skillet, saute some diced onion in butter and add to crock pot.
- Add greens, salt, pepper, garlic powder, Tabasco and chicken broth into crock pot.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or on high.
