On the road to somewhere we have never been before, The Arkansas Derby!
Louisville to Nashville
The perfect spot to stop for lunch and stretch our legs, Top Golf!
Nashville to Memphis
Rec Room in Memphis was really cool. We had an hour to kill before dinner so we rented a living room, chose a game console and played games until it was time to eat.
We chose Hog + Hominy for dinner in Memphis and it was fantastic.
Memphis to Little Rock
We like seeking out boutique hotels that are fairly modern to stay in. The Burgundy Hotel in Little Rock was a fantastic place to stay.
Little Rock to Hot Springs
We noticed the Arkansas Derby was a lot more casual compared to the Kentucky Derby. There were people who were dressed up, but a lot more people were dressed comfortably. The crowd was diverse and fun!
We really enjoyed the infield. There were areas where you could bet, a lot of craft beer options, food trucks, bounce houses and a petting zoo. It felt like we were in a garden surrounded by a horse racing track. The grounds were beautiful!
Winning the Superfecta was an added bonus to our amazing experience!
Hot Springs to Memphis
If you ever find yourself in Memphis, do yourself a favor and stop at Charlie Vergos Rendezvous. It’s in a basement off of an alley in downtown Memphis and you will know you are close because the smell will lure you right inside the door.
Memphis to Nashville
Our final stop, The Stillery, in Nashville. Do not pass up the chance to get some of their Mac and Cheese topped with hot chicken.
We were blessed to encounter so many salt of the earth people on this trip that made us feel right at home even though we were on the road. It was a journey that we will not soon forget!
Until next time…
