This is what our week looks like living in Louisville for the Kentucky Derby!
The Wednesday morning before the Derby we visited the backside at Churchill Downs to watch the horses workouts. It is awesome to see the horses up close and see them being being bathed.
Wednesday at the track for the races is a good casual day before things amp up. For us, this was declared a guys day, and I’m told it was a lot of fun.
Thursday is referred to as Thurby and sadly neither of us were able to attend.
Friday is Oaks Day. We had the most wonderful lunch before heading to the track for the races at Lilly’s Bistro. The tomatillo and avocado soup that I had was absolutely delicious and it was perfectly accompanied by a ham and gruyere sandwich. It was a terrific day of races too! We couldn’t have had a better time.
For the Derby on Saturday, we attended a magnificent party with our friends who love horse racing. It is very exciting to watch the races with friends and cheer on the horses. We are already looking forward to next year.
